Why listening to other people is so difficult? How can we listen to others and make them listen to us at once? Thanks to few management courses and participating in a few “incisive” meetings, I was able to create a three-levels listening scale, which is:

1. I listen and I understand, but I’m not interested at all; I remember things, so I can use them in the future.

2. I listen, I understand – it’s about my problem – I’m up to investigate everything what might interest me.

3. I listen, I understand – I connect my needs with the speaker’s opinion – I am able to choose the best way to achieve the objective. It is necessary to hide elaborated “ego”.

I managed to access the third level of the scale just a few times. Self-esteem is always disturbing!
